UMass Football ’72 Boardwalk Bowl Champions

Welcome to the UMass Football ’72 Boardwalk Bowl Champions Campaign: 

Teammates,

Last Fall, we had a tremendous weekend as the University and Athletic Department recognized us for the on-field accomplishments of 1972.  We also shared laughs, tears and memories during the weekend as we remembered captain Clarence Brooks and Head Coach Dick MacPherson.   It was truly a memorable experience for all in attendance.

It’s now time to focus our efforts on leaving a significant legacy for our beloved football program.   Just as we began the championship tradition by winning UMass’ first bowl game, we would like to again set a standard for giving back to the program.  Working alongside the athletic department and football program, we have set a realistic and attainable goal of $35,000 to establish a Wall of Champions inside the Hunt Hospitality Suite of the Football Performance Center.  We’re off to a great start as we’ve already raised a total of $16,000.

The Wall of Champions will be located on the south wall inside the Hunt Hospitality Suite and feature a plaque commemorating the ’72 Boardwalk Bowl team, along with its philanthropy to support this project. Further, the donations will go to fund two (2) 90-inch televisions, along with cabling and wiring, for an improved in-game atmosphere in the Hunt Room.   This enhanced space will also help the current coaching staff when they invite recruits to campus.

Our hope is that by leading the way today, future championship teams, will give back to support the football program and add on to the Wall of Champions.  Donate online today and help us make one more Championship run.  Or, mail checks, payable to UMass Football with “Wall of Champions” in the memo line to:  301 Mullins Center, 200 Commonwealth Avenue, Amherst, MA  01003, Attention:  L..A.
