Holiday Shopping Safer Switch!

November 26, 2023

When shopping this holiday season, be mindful of receipts! Check out our social media post from Friday about how opting for an electronic receipt can help minimize exposure to potentially harmful chemicals like BPS and BPA found in traditional printed receipts. With swift transfer to the skin and known health risks associated with these chemicals, electronic receipts offer a safer alternative. Avoiding direct contact with printed receipts reduces the risk of exposure to chemicals of concern. Your support allows us to share these simple switches encouraging our community to prevent disease, and sending the message to the marketplace to provide safer options. Thank you for making it possible!

Brand Partner Update!

November 22, 2023

You support our ability to meet brand partners and work towards providing a safer marketplace. For the past ten years Protect Our Breasts has been attending the Natural Product Expos in Philadelphia and Annihem. At these trade shows we talk to USDA organic brands that are already committed to creating a safer marketplace and ask them to share the chemicals of concern in packaging with their suppliers. We know many of these chemicals can migrate into products so together we are changing the safety of the products we buy. There is no financial commitment, just a shared mission.

This past September, we gained 11 new brand partners at the last ever Expo East in Philadelphia moving us to a total of 74 brand partners! We are so thankful for our brand partners dedication to creating a safer marketplace. For Giving Tuesday, 17 of our brand partners have given us product and discount codes to give back to you! After donating, you will be emailed with our donor discount guide with codes for you to enjoy our brand partners products at a lower price! Thank you for your continued support, you make this all possible.

Why Buy Organic!

November 20, 2023

Getting ready for Thanksgiving? So are we! We are so thankful for your support of a safer marketplace! What is Thanksgiving about besides gratitude? Food! So today’s social media post is all about choosing organic and how to check for pesticide residues on many of our holiday favorites! Check out https://www.whatsonmyfood.org/  In addition, Jade has written an all-about-organic certification blog post on our website. This has been approved by our advisor who was the leader in bringing the organic standards to USDA! How grateful we are to have Katherine DiMatteo by our side! As you enjoy your special day of thankfulness, please help us celebrate Generosity Together next Tuesday!  Check out our Instagram for today’s post!

POB has influenced ~120,000 young people on social media and through our 50+ campus and community reps/chapters to avoid the chemicals of concern in our everyday products. We partner with 74 organic brands working towards safer packaging to reduce chemical migration into our products. We have shared 225 blogs based on the scientific literature on our website.

Thank you for joining us... or please consider doing so before the lights turn out on 2019

December 30, 2019

With two days left to go before the lights go out on 2019, we are getting closer to our goal. If you or a friend have yet to make a gift, please take less than a minute to hear our Founder/Executive Director, Cynthia Barstow share how you can help reduce the risk of breast cancer in loved ones by joining us on our journey today!

One more gift to wrap up before the holidays

December 20, 2019

Thank you to all those of you who have given the gift of empowerment to our young women working towards a safer marketplace! If you haven't given yet, there is still time to wrap one up for POB before the holidays.

Our children need protection for their future. We give that by sharing safer lifestyle choices when it matters most - in tips that are easy to apply to their lives from influencer peers they can relate to. Drinking water and going to the gym are positive, avoiding chemicals that contribute to breast cancer might save a life. Please give the gift of a breast cancer prevention to the young women in the window of susceptibility - in high school and college - by joining us on our journey today. www.protectourbreasts.org/donate

Today is the Day! #GivingTuesday

December 03, 2019

Today is the day, #GivingTuesday, that we ask you to empower the young women and men trying to create a safer marketplace. They are spending their college years sharing with friends and family the chemicals of concern in our everyday products. Today, there are 44 high school and college chapters dedicated to this mission.   Won’t you join them, empower them, to keep doing this hard work? Every dollar you give today goes to expanding our community.  With the science continuing to shed light on the role of toxins in breast and other cancers, it’s time to make a change to prevent disease. Please give now. www.protectourbreasts.org/donate #ourforeverfuture

Breast Cancer Prevention 2019

October 24, 2019

October signals Breast Cancer awareness and often the messaging is around finding a cure. We believe the best cure is to avoid a diagnosis all together. The newest research links exposure to environmental toxins up through a first full-term pregnancy with a breast cancer diagnosis later in life. Our hope? To minimize the toxins found in everyday products by encouraging brands to remove them and young women to avoid products with them.  How do they know? That is our mission - to share about chemicals to look for on labels, new behaviors to adopt to avoid toxins and digestible tips to protect our breasts. We work with organic brands that are working hard to create a safer marketplace. And... we are doing this while we are in college. The organization and it's 42 chapters at high schools and colleges is run by one professor and a small team of dynamic Isenberg business and public health students dedicated to this important work. If you want to support Breast Cancer Prevention knowing your dollars will go directly to protecting young women, please give to Protect Our Breasts today!

The Second Annual National Earthdayogathon is here!

April 04, 2019

The National Earthdayogathon is our annual fundraising event that we hold instead of a walk or a run. Earthdayogathon is an opportunity to come together as a community and practice Seva for Saucha (service for a cleaner, less-toxic lifestyle). Attend, host, or sponsor a donation-based yoga class around Earth Day, April 22nd, to support the sharing of digestible science-based tips that embody our message.

Our goal is a safer marketplace where women in their “window of susceptibility” (through their first pregnancy) don’t have to worry about toxic chemical exposures that could increase their risk of breast cancer and other diseases later in life. Your contribution makes a BIG impact on our modest nonprofit.

If you do yoga and have a favorite studio, it's NOT TOO LATE to encourage them to register at Earthdayogathon.org/teachers If you simply want to encourage our 750+ ambassadors at our 35+ college and high school chapters to continue to make a difference, we would be so grateful for your contribution.

Earthdayogathon Sponsors and Earthdayogathon Studios - Donate the proceeds from your donation-based class on the donation page! ....and THANK YOU for your support!!!

Support Us On #GIVINGTUESDAY

November 26, 2018

While the POB mission is to encourage young women to avoid environmental toxins that contribute to breast cancer, Protect Our Breasts is also an invaluable experiential learning experience for us - as young, motivated, change-makers. Our home, in the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, allows us to earn credits while learning valuable business skills to solve world problems.

By supporting us on #GivingTuesday (11/27), you will do double duty - sending a message to our university that you value both the cause of breast cancer prevention  and the educational component of our organization. It is a rare and valuable opportunity we have to work on such an important issue while we are still in college. We thank you for helping us encourage our friends and other young women to protect themselves from breast cancer. Please add us to your holiday gift list and give the gift of a safer tomorrow for us all.

We hope that you will continue to join us in our journey throughout the year and hope you invite others to join us too! Please follow us on Facebook at @ProtectOurBreasts and under the following drop down menu, click on "See First", Instagram @protectourbreasts and/or Twitter @Protectbreasts to keep up-to-date on YOUR campaign to prevent Breast Cancer. Thank you again!
