The UMass Amherst Libraries, comprised of the W. E. B. Du Bois Library and the Science & Engineering Library, are the largest publicly supported research libraries in New England with over eight million items available in print and online. Located in the heart of UMass Amherst, the libraries are the busiest places on campus, welcoming more than two million visitors annually.
We invite you to support the UMass Amherst Libraries – where all are welcome to share in the endeavor of learning and discovery. Both in person and online, the Libraries empower students and faculty to reach further and do more, and provide visitors from around the world with access to the intellectual contributions UMass Amherst is making on a daily basis.
Library donors help underwrite learning and study space renovations, research opportunities, and library collections and programming that benefit all students, the campus, and the Commonwealth. Some examples of recent donor-funded transformations include:
- Modernization of the W. E. B. Du Bois Library lobby, adding video walls and new furniture to welcome users with information, wayfinding, and comfort.
- Creation of the campus’s first-ever Graduate Commons: a professional space outfitted with workstations, conference rooms, and secure storage for scholarly materials to meet the needs of our master’s and doctoral students.
