Many, many thanks to the individuals who have donated to our Gator-Fund so far!

If you would like to visit the farm and see all the UMass students and animals in action, please join us for the 80th Annual Bay State Livestock Classic this Saturday (4/11) at the Hadley Farm (111 North Maple Street in Hadley)! The event is free and open to the public from 9am to 4:30pm. Event Schedule: https://www.vasci.umass.edu/news-and-announcements/04-08-2015-80th-annual-bay-state-livestock-classic

Also, please don’t forget that the individual who donates the largest amount between April 6th and April 10th (TODAY!) will be awarded the honor of naming a gorgeous 2015 Goat Kid! She is currently tagged as #524 and waiting for you to name her! We will announce her new name at the Livestock Classic on Saturday.

We are 25% of the way toward our Gator-goal!

THANK YOU to all the generous donors who have contributed to this fund-raising effort for the Hadley Farm!

A special thank you and CONGRATULATIONS to Elise Durville (a VASCI alumnus)!

For being the top donor in the first 5 days of our campaign, Elise has been awarded the prize of naming a 2015 UMass Boer Goat Kid! Elise has selected the name of Amalthea for the doeling. In Greek mythology, Amalthea was the foster-mother of Zeus. In artwork, she is often depicted as a goat providing milk for the baby Zeus in a cave in Mount Aigaion (also known as Mountain of the Goat). A very fitting, thoughtful, and creative name for this lovely goat kid!

Many, many THANKS to all the generous donors who contributed to the Gator Fund for the Hadley Farm!

A special thank you to Barbara Osborne for being the top donor! Dr. Osborne will name our new breeding ram. (He is currently called 1446, so he is definitely in need of a new name!)

Since we did not reach our fundraising goal within the limited time frame, the Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences has pledged the remaining amount needed to secure the Gator for work this spring and summer. We are absolutely thrilled, and students and staff members at the farm are using the Gator on a daily basis!

Thank you again for your support of the UMass Livestock Farm!
