The Vocal Suspects are recording an album this upcoming spring, and we need your help! Founded in 1999, we are UMass Amherst's oldest (and funkiest!) mixed a cappella group. As a self-arranging, student-led group, all of our members share a deep love for music and for one another. Our repertoire covers a broad range of genres–from indie to alternative to R&B. Diversity, risk-taking, and growth have been central to our values and have shaped our journey to professionalism and national recognition. Despite the challenges that the pandemic has presented, we have been working hard on new music and are looking forward to sharing it through a fourth studio album!
This album will allow us to share our music with a broader audience, gaining traction in the world of collegiate a cappella in a time where the digital availability of music can make or break a group’s success. It will also give our new members the opportunity to experience the process of preparing for, recording, and refining a professionally produced album; three-fourths of our group weren’t members when we recorded our last album. We are excited to showcase our commitment to creativity in the form of a tangible, concrete product that we can then share with all of you!
