UMASS FENCING CLUB NEEDS YOUR HELP
Our team has been organized on campus since 1961, and ever since we have been training our students to get better at fencing! We compete throughout the school year with other club teams, as well as NCAA organized teams. In 2019, we placed 5th at the Club Fencing National Championships in Pennsylvania, in which over 40 teams compete.
We strive to provide these opportunities to UMass Students while maintaining that the club stays affordable to all our members. To perform well and ensure everyone on the team has time to practice official electric fencing, we need more equipment such as floor reels and scoring boxes. One set of this equipment costs $2000, which enables two fencers to practice at a time. We need your help!
Due to the pandemic, a lot of our team members have gone without getting new recruits to fill our spots, and we will need extra resources in order to run a successful Novice recruitment program!
Help us get the equipment we need to practice hard, so we can ensure we are ready for nationals when we can safely compete again!

In an individual direct elimination bout, we go to 15 points. When the score goes to 14-14, we get only a few seconds to prepare. Losing the point means packing up and going home, winning means getting to advance to the next round. You're there screaming with us for that final winning point!
You got us in love with our sport. You were sitting by the sidelines cheering us on, when neither of us had an idea of what was going on. Your support is vital to our success!
You are a key member to this team! We need members like you so we do well at competitions and bring home the gold!
Your leadership qualities and top notch fencing skills are what we need to teach our team to get better and excel!
