Student Parent Programs (SPP) supports parenting students as they pursue their educational goals at UMass. Our goal is to keep student parents on track in their education by addressing the obstacles that get in the way of their success.
Childcare subsidies help student parents stay in school and stay on track to earning their degrees!
Family grants help pay for expenses such as licensing exam fees, winter coats and boots for growing kids, transportation expenses, computer repairs, high utility bills, kids' dental bills, insurance co-pays for childbirth, and more!
"Without the support I would not have been able to complete my degree. Our family endured a few hardships during my last year at UMASS and the support of this program granted me the ability to breathe and be able to be a student and prioritize my family."
Funding for childcare and emergency expenses and the wraparound support that goes with it can help student parents stay focused on what they are here to do - to become proud alums of UMass Amherst!
Student parent success = multi-generational success! When a student parent graduates, it changes the trajectory of their future as well as their child’s - with better educational outcomes for their child and higher lifetime earnings for the parent as well as their child(ren.)
