Who are The Vocal Suspects?

The Vocal Suspects, founded in 1999, is UMass Amherst's oldest (and funkiest!) mixed a cappella group. As a self-arranging, student-led group, all of our members share a deep love for music and for one another. Our repertoire covers a broad range of genres–from indie to alternative to R&B. Our close-knit family will take any chance we can get to burst into song, whether that be at the 'Spects house in Amherst or a stairway in Herter Hall. Earlier this year, we released our third studio album, Spectrum, and we are currently in the ICCA 2021 quarterfinal lineup!

With the transition to remote learning earlier this year, we have been finding alternative ways to share our work and love for music with those in our community. Not being able to host live performances or rehearse in person has been challenging, but we are actively seeking ways to arrange, sing, and perform "together" remotely! We are asking for donations to help support us in our efforts to produce and release our musical arrangements and covers as we enter into another semester of remote learning. Although we cannot hold performances in-person, The Vocal Suspects hopes to make the best of the world's current situation by bringing positive energy and good music to those around us remotely!
