Meet the Henley Team! FIVE days left of fundraising and 39 days until our travels begin!!

When the UMass Minutewomen set out to raise funds to travel to the Henley Women’s Regatta, we worried that it may be too late in the season to embark on such a lofty campaign. However, you have proven us wrong! We have been overwhelmed with your generosity toward the program and are pleased to say that you have made the dream of competing internationally a reality for the UMass Rowing Program.

Because the response to this campaign has been so positive and supportive we would like to extend our fundraising goal to $40,000 and keep the Minutefund page live for an additional two weeks. By raising an additional $15,000, we will be able to cover the entire cost of the trip for each student-athlete. Originally, we had asked the student athletes to the cover the cost of their flight and other miscellaneous costs, which we realize can be very expensive, but you have shown us that this is a burden that we can lift for them.

If for some reason we do not achieve our new target goal, any and all funds raised will be distributed evenly among the student athletes attending the trip in order to help pay for the remaining costs.

One week into our Minutefund Campaign, we have reached 50% of our initial fundraising goal of $25,000! The women are gearing up for another fast Spring, kicking off Spring Break this week with double sessions on the water! We are so fortunate to have GREAT water this year, and the morale of the team is high! The women are psyched to have the Minutefund up and running; they are watching the numbers rise as the thoughts of Henley are becoming more and more real! It is a turning point for UMass Rowing in that we would like to start this new tradition of traveling abroad every four years to compete in Henley! Every team that has come through this program, every class of women, has pushed themselves to keep the tradition of hard-work, academic excellence, and athletic success alive, and we’ve come to the point where we are ready to take the next step and to push the limits a little further. We could not have come to this place without the tradition of teams in decades past, and we cannot make this next leap without our alumnae’s help! This trip is serves as a huge reminder of how important our alumnae base is, and how important it is to keep our women tuned in to the important role that they will play even after they have left the program!
