Minuteman Marching Band Color Guard Uniforms
In 2017, the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band successfully concluded a major fundraising campaign, which enabled the purchase of a brand new set of band uniforms. This was the band's first new uniform since 2001, and was a bold, new look for us. At the same time, care was taken to ensure that the uniform represented the traditions that have come to define the UMMB. The new uniforms made their debut in the 2018 Tournament of Roses.
We wore our new uniform for all of the 2018 season. At the same time, we raised funds for the purchase of new tuxedoes for the members of our Front Ensemble. Those will debut at the first football game this September. The only part of the Minuteman Marching Band that has not received a new uniform is our Color Guard. This need is increased by the fact that we are expecting to have the largest guard in our history this fall. We expect to have over 40 guard members! It's time for them to receive a uniform that is not only new, but also reflects the band uniform.
We are seeking to raise $14,000 this next month. This will cover the cost of all new uniforms for our entire Color Guard. If the amount is raised in that time (or even earlier), we may be able to debut the new uniforms this season. We have the Homecoming football game on Oct. 26th, MICCA Finals on the 27th, Band Day on Nov. 2nd and the final football game of the season on Nov. 23rd. A successful conclusion of this campaign by September 29th (if not earlier) will allow for these uniforms to be worn this year!
The friends, family, alumni and supporters of the UMMB did an incredible job making our new band uniforms possible. The guard uniforms are the final part of this that needs completing. All gifts help us reach our goal of $14,000. When that is reached, we will have a new look for every member of the Power and Class of New England!
**Special Challenge to all former UMMB Color Guard Captains: Dave Hautanen, former Captain & Instructor, has said if the Captains will donate a total of $2,500, he will contribute an EXTRA $500! **
Thank you for your support and, as always,
