In the current state of our world, we exist in a great loss of human connection and understanding. Difference is called weakness, and these conversations are filed away and labeled taboo. Next to Normal, by Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt, follows the story of Diana Goodman, wife and mother, diagnosed with bipolar depression after a traumatic event. This musical pushes the boundaries of human empathy and our ability to support what we do not understand.
We are raising funds to purchase royalties and produce this show to spread its poignant messages to a human race that is in desperate need of them. Our production will focus on the realistic depiction of mental illness and how its presence relates to domestic and societal pressures of "normality".
