Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) is a national organization that changes lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support, and development. Our vision is to see a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. 

One of SHPE's annual events, Noche de Ciencias, is about promoting community outreach in emerging Hispanic communities. We go to a nearby high school/ community center to show young adults the importance of STEM and secondary education as well as impress upon them that their involvement is essential to make changes in the world. During Noche de Ciencias, we do demonstrations that showcase STEM principles and educate the students and their parents about preparing for college. We will use a part of the money raised from our MinuteFund page towards this event. 

The rest of the money will be used to fund members who wish to participate in the SHPE National Conference. This conference offers students a myriad of different opportunities. From networking events to professional workshops, the conference is invested in helping Hispanic students in STEM find careers/internships, engage with professionals, and discover funding resources.
