HackUMass VII: Where students bring their craziest ideas to life.

HackUMass VII, which will be held October 18th-20th, is a 36-hour event where students have the opportunity to build whatever software and hardware "hacks" that they want, in an educational environment with workshops, mentors, and tons of resources to learn something new. Our event began as a hardware-focused hackathon, and we still carry that same spirit today. We have an extensive collection of hardware items, from Raspberry Pi's, to Arduinos, to microcontrollers and other electronics parts, as well as soldering stations and 3D printers which participants can use during our event. We also strive to give students of all backgrounds, especially those not CS or Engineering majors, the opportunity to learn and build their skills.

Located in the Integrative Learning Center building on campus, HackUMass gives an immersive atmosphere to as many as 1,000 students for an entire weekend filled with workshops, talks, and fun activities. We welcome participants from all backgrounds -- veteran developers, first-timers, engineers, entrepreneurs, even non-tech majors. Our goal is to bring together and inspire hackers -- people who want to tinker and build awesome things -- from every background and provide opportunities like Ladies Storm Hackathons to continue growing in diversity. We also want our participants to feel at home, so we provide loads of free food to all of our attendees, all via award-winning UMass Dining.

In order to make this and future events happen, we need your support. With thousands of dollars each year devoted to swag, prizes, and hardware, all donations will go to providing a better experience to our participants. Now in our seventh year, we are the largest technology event on campus -- and the second largest student-run event besides Homecoming. 

Ask any Engineering or Computer Science student on campus what events they look forward to each year, and HackUMass is bound to be near the top of their list. Last year we helped 1,000 students from UMass, Boston, and New York City get more involved in technology. Help us continue to give this experience to the next generation of students.
